Painted blessings: A Journey of faith
An exhibit by David Haynes
Exhibition Open: July 1 - September 21
Opening Reception: July 18 from 5-7pm
I grew up singing church hymns, and I still listen to and reflect on them while painting. Many special verses written long ago inspire me today to create and design my images.
"For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth over and around us lies.
For the beauty of each hour, of the day and of the night,
hill, vale, tree, flower, sun, moon, and stars of light.
For the joy of ear and eye, for the heart and mind’s delight,
for the mystic harmony linking sense to sound and sight.
For Thyself, best Gift Divine! To our race so freely given.
For that great love of Thine, peace on earth, and joy in heaven.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise."
It’s an honor to share my work with you.

Artist Bio
David Haynes, a Long-Term Care Insurance Specialist, took a beginners' pet portrait class at Creative Aging Network in November 2019. It was his first-ever attempt to paint. Instructor Jennifer Donley was encouraging and saw potential in this new artist, saying, "What you say can matter!"
After purchasing a few paints, brushes, and canvases, Haynes began a new hobby and has completed over 300 paintings thus far. "I enjoy the calmness and beauty of creating through painting," he says. As a special signature, Haynes includes "three tiny crosses" within each painting. "To me, it represents my faith and God’s gift that He’s allowed me to share."
