Artist’s Statement:

The Healing Wraps are made from silk and wool fibers agitated in a traditional felting technique using only soap and water. They came from a prayer. I began working with silk and wool fibers to make wraps to help me heal from trauma and abuse.  After a half day class and making my first wrap, I soon began creating works that expressed feelings and emotions.  As I felted, I could feel incredible energy and see different fiber imagery.  Felting provided an outlet and a way to channel energy. I incorporate messages of inspiration while sharing them others.  The wraps are infused with prayers, affirmations, oils, tree resins, plants, and objects that resonate. There is no sewing in this ancient technique of felting and every strand is laid by hand and hand agitated.  

The award winning “Healing Wraps” are wearable art that are amazing to adorn or display. I use the Healing Wraps in my wellness, advocacy and coaching work to assist individuals with feeling safe. Swaddling with the wraps creates a feeling of protection and the technique has proven effective each time. The Healing Wraps have sparked dialogs in different places and serve as a modality for change – change in us individually as well as collective changes for society. Biography:

Felicia L. Reed is a recognized Fiber Artist born in Washington DC. She is also an Advocate, a Life, Spiritual and Christian Coach, International Speaker, Quality Manager and a TV Host. Ms. Reed volunteers on Boards and in Mastermind Teams to support others. She works with groups and individuals promoting positive life changes using nature and art. Ms. Reed is a survivor of severe abuse and traumatic experiences where she knows that prayer, natural modalities and art saved her life. Her award-winning Healing Wraps are featured in galleries, social engagements, and wellness entities to spark healing and change. Ms. Reed is currently touring globally as an artist and working on a novel story. She is available and can be reached @fiberartwithfelicia.
